| A
new exhibition has given a splash of colour to the Lang Toon's Ruthven
Gallery this month. Well known local artists Margaret Evans, Albie Sinclair
and Ann Wegmuller have brought their latest works to the walls of the
popular gallery featuring a rich array of vibrant and colourful landscapes. |
| The
talented group are hoping to attract many new and regular admirers with
their work. Gallery owner Suzanne Hay, said: "We are pleased to bring
a diverse and inspiring range of work to the gallery during this exhibition
and to exhibit some emerging artists who you may not normally see in Scottish
galleries alongside award-winning Scottish artists such as Rosanne Barr." |

painters prove that home is where the art is |

| Stunning
works from a selection of Strathallan's finest contemporary artists have
gone on display at a special Summer Landscapes exhibition in Auchterarder. |
| Art
aficionados are expected to flock to the Lang Toon's Ruthven Gallery from
miles around to visit the exhibition featuring work from local luminaries
including Margaret Evans, Albie Sinclair and Ann Wegmuller. They will
be joined by up-and-coming artists from farther afield, such as the exciting
Edinburgh-based emerging talent Tessa Whitley and the award-winning Rosanne
Barr. |
| The
Ruthven Gallery has gained a reputation as one of the top venues to show
contemporary art in Perthshire, proving popular with artists and enthusiasts
alike. And the calibre of artists on display in the Summer Landscape exhibition
proves there is no let up in the quality. |
| Shinafoot
Studios-based Glasgow School of Art graduate Margaret Evans has built
up an international reputation for her pastel prowess, and is a member
of artist societies as far away as Canada and the USA. But is is at home
in Perthshire that she finds some of her greatest inspiration, and she
is delighted to be displaying her work at the Ruthven Gallery. |
| She
said: "I find inspiration in many places we travel to on trips I
organise. The Scottish landscape gives a wonderful range of subject matter
which helps show the pastel medium in all its versatility, from dry to
wet techniques and mixed with gouache." |
| Aberuthven-based
Ann Wegmuller is another Strathallan artist with a big reputation. She
specialises in abstract painting, and, since graduating from the Duncan
of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee 1986, has made a name for herself,
exhibiting work at the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts and the Royal
Academy of Arts. |
| And
she can't wait to display her work on her own doorstep: "It's fantastic
to have a gallery like the Ruthven in Auchterarder, and I always enjoy
displaying my work there. The three paintings I've submitted are abstract
- I don't just paint what I see - but all based on experiences of local
scenes. But I'm not sure too many will recognise them. The clue is in
the name, though." |
| Dunning
landscape painter and former art teacher Albie Sinclair will once again
bring his work - which always seems to take the fancy of the buying public
- to the Ruthven Gallery. |
| The
gallery's owner Suzanne Hay, told the Strathallan News: "We are pleased
to bring a diverse and inspiring range of work to the gallery during this
exhibition, and to exhibit some emerging artists who you may not normally
see in Scottish galleries alongside award-winning artists such as Rosanne
Barr." |
