"This painting is oil on linen, 24 x 24" and, like many of my paintings over the last few years, features my family. As Professor Ken Howard RA has said 'an artist paints who he is at a given time' and at this particular point in time I have a young family. What better way for me to express myelf on canvas than to paint my family in particular settings that are a joy for both them and me, such as at the beach. |
| This was painted at Strathlene beach, near Findochty on the north-east coast on a hot, sunny but hazy day giving a beautiful pinkish hue to the sky with the light breaking through and dancing on the sea, and the figures almost silhouetted against the brilliance of the light." | |
